Election information from the WCSS Constitution, updated March 2026
- Elected officers of the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies shall be determined by plurality on a ballot in the spring of odd-numbered years (with lots drawn for ties), or otherwise according to the manner prescribed by the Executive Board. There will be an annual election for the office of Vice President. The Vice President shall have served on the Executive Board for at least one year. One of the executive directors shall invite all members of WCSS to run for elective positions at least two months before the elections. An electronic ballot shall be open to all WCSS members for voting. A member may hold or run for only one elective office at a time. Only those members who have consented to serve if elected shall be eligible for nomination. All delegates must be WCSS members. Each delegate will designate his/her representational area using the Wisconsin Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) number of either his/her home or school address. The address chosen will be used on the ballot.
- Area representation will be divided into seven groups and based upon Wisconsin Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) numbers. All elected delegates on the board will serve two-year terms. A total of seventeen area delegate members will be elected from these areas to serve on the Board of Directors: four from CESA 1, three from CESA 2, two from CESA 3 & 4, two from CESA 5 &10, two from CESA 6 & 7, two from CESA 8 & 9 and two from CESA 11&12. Eligibility for elected delegate representation is determined by place of employment. All elected members of the board will serve two-year terms.
